The “Executive Club”, is the name of the British Airways frequent flyer program. The program offers more than just simply flight points.  I mainly earn “avios” which are the British Airways frequent flyer points earned by shopping with their partners as well as the conventional way.

By becoming a member of the “Executive Club”, you will also receive several special, member-only promotions and deals. The program is free to join and there is no processing or wait time. I was able to begin earning points immediately.

The “Executive Club” is broken into four tiers: blue, bronze, silver, and gold. Everyone starts in the blue tier and you will progress to gold as you earn more “avios”. Being a British Airways frequent flyer, you are able to collect “avios” in three different ways: by flying, and doing your every day shopping.

You can also collect by booking hotels thru the “Executive Club” Program. These are not your ordinary hotels.  They are high end, top quality hotels.  One of the most appealing partner to me is the Starwood Hotel. By staying at one of these hotels, British Airways frequent flyers earn two to three “avios” per US dollar spent there.

You can also collect “avios” as you travel by renting a car thru the partner program at Avis.   You will collect one “avio” per dollar spent and the minimum number of “avios” per rental will be 500.  You will also save money here, because if you go with Avis you will be able to add an additional driver at no extra cost.

The British Airways frequent flyer program also offers several vacation packages. By booking one of these packages you also collect points.  You can also collect points by getting a British Airways Visa Signature card and shopping through specific vendors.

You now know there are many ways to collect points when you become a British Airways frequent flyer. You may be wondering how they really save you money.  There are many ways to cash in your points.  You can spend your “avios” by taking reward flights or upgrading turning your points into a flight saver.

As a British Airways frequent flyer you are able to use your “avios” to pay for your flight. That’s right, if you have enough points, you can pay for the entire flight by using your “avios”.  It’s also possible to use “avios” to pay for your hotel stays worldwide. Over time, using your points will help save you money by rewarding you for being a loyal customer.
